Best tips for cooking beef steak

1. Choose The Right Cut Of Meat

When cooking the perfect steak, choosing the right cut of meat is key. It can be overwhelming to decide which cut to choose from filet mignon to ribeye, sirloin to flank. However, we will help you to pick the right cut.

To begin with, consider the level of marbling in the meat. Marbling refers to the white flecks of fat dispersed throughout the meat. The more marbling a cut has, the more flavorful and tender it will be. Cuts like ribeye and tenderloin are known for their high marbling content, making them a great choice for a delicious and juicy steak.

Next, take into account the overall dimensions of the cut. If you are looking for a quick and easy dinner, opt for a thinner cut like a flank or sirloin. But if you are in the mood for a decadent, special occasion meal, go for a thick cut like a ribeye or tomahawk. Unlike in the past, getting the finest cut of meat is no longer difficult, thanks to wagyu beef wholesale. You can even customize your cuts according to your preference.

2. Heat Properly To Sear The Steak

The secret to creating a gorgeous crust on the surface of a steak while keeping the interior juicy and soft is to sear it at a high temperature. When using a grill, be sure to preheat it to at least 450°F. And if you are using a pan on the stove, make sure it is preheated to high heat.

After putting the steak on the heat source, do not move it around while it is cooking; this will prevent it from developing a nice crust. Just let it cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, depending on the thickness of the steak and the level of doneness you prefer.

Ensure your steak is dry before cooking. If there is excess moisture on the surface of the steak, it will steam instead of sear. Therefore, pat the steak dry with a paper towel before cooking.

3. Use A Meat Thermometer To Monitor Doneness

Cooking a steak to perfection can be tricky – it is a delicate balance between juicy and flavorful on the inside and golden brown and crispy on the outside. The key is to avoid both undercooking and overcooking the steak. Undercooking will leave the steak raw and unappealing, while overcooking will result in a dry, tough, and flavorless piece of meat. You want your steak to be just right. Not too rare, not too well done, but just right. That is where a meat thermometer comes in handy.

A meat thermometer measures the internal temperature of your steak, helping you to get the ideal doneness. The most common types of meat thermometers are instant-read and probe thermometers.

An instant-read thermometer provides an accurate reading in a flash. On the other hand, a probe thermometer is left in the steak, enabling you to monitor the temperature throughout the cooking process. You should select a thermometer that goes best with your cooking style.

Keep in mind that your steak’s internal temperature will continue to rise even after you lift it from the grill. So you should take it off the heat a few degrees before it reaches your desired level of doneness.

4. Season Liberally

For exquisite steaks, salt and black pepper are an absolute must. They bring out the meat’s natural flavor and create a nice crust on the outside. So, give your steaks a good rub down with salt and black pepper before you let your steaks rest. This will allow the seasoning to permeate the meat and produce a more flavorful result.

But why stop at salt and pepper? If you are feeling adventurous, try experimenting with some bolder spices. Cumin, sumac, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, chili powder, and even a pinch of cinnamon can add flavor to your steaks.

5. Slice Against The Grain

The way you slice your steak can have a significant impact on the meat’s overall texture. The reason for this is that muscle fibers in the meat can run in several distinct directions. When you slice your steak with the grain, you cut through those fibers, resulting in a tougher and chewier steal. In contrast, when you slice against the grain, you cut across those fibers, breaking them down and making the meat much more tender.

Be sure to use a sharp knife while cutting the steak. It will give you more control over the size of the slices; you can make them as thin or as thick as you want. Furthermore, a sharp knife prevents the meat’s fluids from escaping, keeping the steak’s flavor intact.

6. Add Toppings

Why settle for less when you can make your steak even better with toppings? Adding toppings to your steak is like taking your taste buds on a wild ride. First and foremost, butter is an absolute must-have topping for a hot steak. It melts down over the meat, creating a luxurious sauce that mingles with the meat juices.

You may also get creative with your toppings and try new and exciting flavors. For example, how about topping your steak with a rich, creamy blue cheese sauce? Or, try topping your steak with pineapple salsa for a sweet and tangy contrast. The possibilities are endless.

Conclusion

Unlike the common assumption, cooking an amazing steak at home does not have to be an uphill task. All you need is the right ingredients and a little attention to detail. Just follow these simple steps, and you will be amazed at how delicious and perfect your steaks are. What are you waiting for? Go ahead, fire up that grill or pan, and get ready to impress your family and friends with your steak-making skills.
